Visits from the Grandparents

February was a fairly quick and busy month (aside from all our colds which we already wrote about). Our church throws baby showers for EVERY baby, not just the first one (or the first one born when the family comes to the church etc). It’s a countercultural thing (we believe God likes babies I guess :-) ) and it’s a nice excuse to get together as women and just enjoy time together. Anyway, Jonathan’s and my shower was Thursday, February 2nd. My mom has never been able to come to any of the other showers we’ve had from the church, and she made special effort to be here for this one (I told her I thought it would be her last chance!) It was lovely and very relaxing. The greatest gift was a book of “advice” (and encouragement) from other women in the church. How wonderful - and just what I really needed! And my mom stayed for the whole week (Monday thru Friday!). Of course, we got her sick as I mentioned in another post, but it was a nice visit and very meaningful to have her here. I got special time with each child and didn’t have to run around quite as much, or at least not with all the kids in tow. In God’s wisdom and providence, we discovered the morning of the shower that the front windshield was cracked and while it was a bit hectic to make it all happen so quickly, I was able to get it replaced the same day, which meant since my mom could watch the kids here at home (but not the next day as she was leaving Friday AM), I could get rides to and from the windshield place and not remove any car seats or impose a minimum of three children (and potentialy all four) in anyone’s vehicle or home.

Jonathan helps Grandma get her work done.

Steve’s parents visited for his birthday (he turned 39 on the 25th). It is always good to see them and the kids - as can be expected - cherish their time with them.
