Hot and Cold
While I admit that I’d rather not have any more below zero mornings (it was 19 below last Wed 3/7 and 18 below on Friday th 9th), I cannot say I want ‘warm’ temps of 40+ either. I’d enjoy some nice 15-20 degree AMs alternating w/low to mid 30’s in the day, and sunny would be a nice bonus (perfect sugaring weather they say - and that would be good too as last year was not a good year for the maple syrup industry). But here is an article about what they are fearing - with good reason - if it does warm up and we don’t get below freezing nights and we then get some rain . . . . Mind you, we always get flooding every spring as the snow melts off the mountains but what with the piles we got a few weeks ago, a quick melt would hurt more than just Montpelier. And the conditions are ripe.
Montpelier hopes for best, prepares for spring flood
Update evening of 3/13
The forecast is not looking good for Montpelier.

1992 Flood
Given the right conditions, the whole of downtown Montpelier (our state capitol and about 30-40 minutes upstream from us along the Winooski River) can flood in about an hour. And the conditions are ripe for another “100-year flood”. It may not happen but there’s an ice jam already they’ve been trying to break up for some time unsuccessfully and the weather then next few days is looking to be the perfect recipe for disaster.

Looks like you’re back to cold. You are about to get dumped on again. Another 1 1/2 feet? We might get 6 inches and dad will get to try out his new snowblower. He’ll be so happy ! Nice when it happens on a Friday. Still didn’t miss any school. Guess we picked a good weekend to come up.
