Salary for Mom
Good morning - interesting link to what a mom’s salary would be if she were paid. There’s a little worksheet she can fill out, including how many kids, whether she works outside the home or not, and more. There’s even a place for dad and what his salary would be for his work at home. I’m really not sure what the distinction is between my “housekeeper” duties and my “janitorial” duties nor whether dishes fall under cooking or housework, etc. But regardless, it was interesting. I think (for fun) I may try to track how much time (in hours) I do spend doing different things and filling in the appropriate amounts and see what it says I’m “worth”.
Of course, I know I’m irreplacable
and priceless (ha!). But it would be fun to see what I’d be paying to hire all this out at a professional level. I wouldn’t give up my day (and night and weekend - did I say 24/7/52?) job for anything, nor farm my kids out on any one else (for their sake or that of my kids!). Love makes a lot of this work easier, doesn’t it? And no one else will do it like I do (or mess it up like I do either). God’s grace - and love - are truly amazing and while I sure don’t think I’m “worth” the approximately $130K+ they say, I do know I’m immensely content at a deeper level with my calling as a full-time mom and wife.
I need to go - my little guy is “signaling” me (pulling on my hand that’s on the mouse, taking it off the mouse that is to say) that it’s his turn, or that at least he wants to sit in my lap for 30 seconds and this computer thing is “in the way”. Off to enjoy him for a few seconds before he’s off and running to the “next thing”. (He needs his momentary mommy-fix!)

I’m sure your husband and children consider you “priceless”. And so do we
