Swim Lessons - week one!
Emily and Matthew are again taking swim lessons at a pool in a neighborhood near us. Matthew is doing a great job blowing bubbles, kicking and enjoying the water in his class. Emily has “jumped right in” and is truly beginning to learn to swim. She puts her head right in and paddles all around several feet at a time. She has even begun to use her arms in a freestyle kind of way and keeps her head in the water most of the time. It is true progress. I generally watch from the shaded kiddie pool and let Elizabeth kick her feet in the water and play with her splashy ball (she likes to throw it and then pick it up and squeeze out all the water onto us).
After the lessons every day we stay to swim in the big pool for around half an hour together and practice what they’ve learned. Elizabeth toodles around in her yellow “boat” chasing people and spinning around and around (she’s a lot of fun). Matthew swims w/his noodle everywhere he can go and enjoys being chased, and Emily is learning to dive under water and today even opened her eyes under water for the first time. It’s great practice and has been an awesome way to cool off in the extreme heat and humidity every day this week. Steve had the day off today and joined us and took a few pictures for you to enjoy. We love to swim!
