More details

I think life is just full of details. Here we are, 3 days into July, and just now (like five minutes ago), I taped up 5 boxes full of winter coats, snowpants, hats and mittens . . . that’s four LARGE boxes and one medium sized (it’s full of mittens - just mittens!). That’s not to mention the other box upstairs with rainboots, miscellaneous jackets, blankets and such that I have packed but have yet to tape and label. Looks like Steve will be going into the attic today at long last to put it all away. Our dining room feels roomy! And part of me thinks it’s odd we’re putting it all away with winter coming so soon. It feels it; Temps in the 40’s overnight the past few nights and swim lessons in the high 50’s low 60’s . . . . all that after record breaking temps in the 90’s last week. One friend said “Yesterday was a nice October day, wasn’t it?” (referring to Sunday when the high was in the mid-60s.) Several of us, while our kids shiverred away in the water, mentioned resisting with great difficulty turning on the heat, our homes had gotten so chilly. It was after all July 1st - who puts on the heat in July?! Steve even wore his fleece vest to swim lessons, and we had hot chocolate to warm up - will do the same today. This is really tough for being in the water.

That said, it is beautiful weather (low 70’s by midday) for everything else - hiking, working, playing outside. Sunny and nice. Could use some rain honestly. Steve took the older kids up Camel’s Hump on Saturday - they were too cold to go all the way up - we didn’t think of sending them with sweatshirts or jackets and it was cold as they went up to 4000 feet and they were freezing near the tree line - probably w/in 20 minutes of the summit - so they turned around. Something to remember for next time as I’m sure they’ll enjoy it again and delight in the views. We enjoyed time at the park as a family late yesterday afternoon (we were all warmed up again - yay!) and will no doubt do again today.

Gotta go bundle up the kids to go swimming. Praying for warm pool water! And glad the fleece jackets aren’t boxed up, as we may well be needing them!

Thanks for the up date. Hopefully NJ & PA pool waters will feel warmer to the children just a week and 1/2 from now. We appreciated the Memorial Day pictures sooo much. Thank You.

    Love you all

Just checked, looks like a bit warmer when we get there. Although I really like the cool stuff (but not for swimming). WE are staying at the Residence Inn so we have an indoor pool if the kids would like. :-) See you Sunday,
    Love, mom
