for all of the above reasons and many more in the future, that is why you held him back a year. He'll be more than able to deal with it. Imagine if he were a year younger. These setbacks will always be there in one form or another. I know he will do well. I may call him tonight and talk to both him and Emily about their first day of school. I am at work right now (working for someone else) but I get off at 2 and dad and I are heading to Beavertail for a picnic supper. Will call if not too late when we get home. If it is, I'll call tomorrow. Love, mom

I agree mom, in totality. Drop off went well. Matthew was shy and knew by face (and name, which will help) two but only two in his class - neither of them well at all. Much to be thankful for (his older age, generally flexible and good-natured disposition, and it turns out a small class of only 15 kids. And the stories about last year's large, boy-dominent, and somewhat "out of control" kindergarten class in our district abound.) One boy in his class had a particularly emotional morning and did NOT want his parents to leave. I feel for the kid. Our Matthew was in his own little world and it will be interesting to learn if he interacted much with anyone this first day or if he kept to himself as he did initially. Emily was very content to see her friends as can be expected and I think I know everyone in her class but one child, and most of the parents too. We'll look forward to phone calls this evening from any and all. Before 7 if possible as we're trying to get the "early to bed" routine down.
