Our busy little Lizzy (20 months today!)
Elizabeth is really responding well to her physical therapy. Over the past month, we have seen striking and measurable progress almost weekly. She is able to crawl (though she doesn’t often choose to), she easily gets on and off her knees, pulls up to standing, climbs on and off the den couch, cruises around tables and furniture, and is learning (with help) to pull up on flat surfaces (like walls, the fridge and doors) and to manoeuver along those, including around corners. She can also climb the stairs independently now (though we have to stay close to her to be sure she doesn’t get distracted or fall). We need to gate them off now. (The things we get excited about!) Our “next step” is to keep working on flat surfaces and manoeuvering along those and try to get her to transfer from one item to another turning around - like going from the sofa or the fridge to a chair, and eventually even taking a step or lunging to get to the destination.

Today we had a lengthy visit with the nutritionist. Lots of discussion about feeding and weight gain and what she’s eating, her general tastes, attitudes etc about food, and also her health. She weighed in at just over 18 lbs and we are pleased with this. She’s not “regaining” on lost ground, however she is confidently maintaining her “new and adjusted curve” which is what we really want to see, bottom line. Regaining is desired but not always possible so while we shoot for it, it’s not disappointing in the least if we don’t get there. Incidentally, the nutriotionist enjoyed “walking” with Elizabeth this morning and offered to let us borrow her walker for a little while so Elizabeth can practice since her daughter’s no longer playing with it. It’s been a lot of fun to see a lot of different people enjoy seeing her progress as well.
