Busy weeks but lots of fun
To summarize briefly, here’s what we’ve been up to and some of what you can look forward to hearing more about over the following weeks (photos too we hope) as we have time to elaborate:
- Seeing the movie Cars (6/10 - Steve and the two oldest)
- Emily definitely has asthma (improved breathing test 6/14 following a month of pretty strong treatment to get her to stop coughing).
- Emily’s last day of school (Fri 6/16)
- Garage sale! (clean up and out) (6/16 and 6/17)
- Trip to Storyland (Mon 6/19)
- Visiting Aunt Cindy et alia (6/21-23)
- Lots of rain (lots and lots and lots - but less than folks south of us)
- Swim lessons (this week and next - Emily dove into the deep end today from a standing position - woohoo!)
- We must have missed visiting the doctor’s office at least once a week (it had been 14 days since we’d been to one!) so 3 of the 4 kids went in on 6/28. Everybody’s coughing except Elizabeth and Melanie!
- Emily got a chest x-ray for pneumonia (negative result) . The good news (big picture) is that her lungs look good which is wonderful to know after 4-5 mos of coughing last year (untreated) and going on three this year (we’re trying to treat it . . . appears to be both viral and asthma though so she’s still coughing).
- Jonathan doesn’t like medicine (double ear infection - he was the catalyst for why I took them all in)
- Strawberry picking (and flooded fields)
- Store (our “clean up” game)
- Oh yeah, and in case we haven’t mentioned it, Jonathan’s crawling - faster every day (and from room to room, madly exploring and chasing things and people) - and at this point he’s starting to climb too. Today it was his swing and he also grabbed my papers from on TOP of the footstool for my rocker to eat them. Look out world, he’s coming (quickly!)
They may all be coughing, but they’re cheerful, full of energy, and we’re enjoying reading, going to the library, swimming, and collecting McDonalds’ happy meal cars (anyone have Lightning McQueen? We’ll trade you for it!) We’re obsessed and Mommy’s indulging (Daddy too I might add). They ALL play with these cars all day long (and the happy meal boxes have become houses and garages). It’s SO fun to watch.
