More on sap
Sugaring is not quite “up and running” this week b/c the temps have been so cold overnight and the trees’ thawing hasn’t come ’til late in the day so if it’s run it’s been just for a short time. But the sugar makers are ready and a few are doing what they can. Different types of operations (those w/vacuum tubing for example) seem to be doing more than others at the moment here in Chittenden County. I love reading the updates on vermontmaple.org which helps keep me posted (at least when there are any updates which once the season is in full tilt there usually aren’t). Can’t WAIT to go visiting sugar shacks (if we can only get and stay healthy . . . )
Em’s home again today… picked up a little tummy bug apparently but it seems short-lived so for the moment the sugar baby’s 4th birthday party is still on for tomorrow…
And if that’s not enough to keep “checking on” I have followed the Iditarod again this year. What a fun little project. I find the whole thing fascinating. Someday I’d love to go for a ride on a dog sled. Now that would be fun.
